Well, all the questioning and preparing, on the contrary, hasn’t put me any closer to understanding this sickness. I feel that because I’ve been an advocate for the fight against this disease, seen so many patients battle various forms of cancer, survive, walked many o’ mile on behalf of its’ research and drug development, and have been a Women’s Health Specialty Representative for so long, that, I would be PREPARED!
Well, that day has come….that this terrible disease would rear its’ face and look me dead in the eye! When I found out the news about my “Abuelita”, I was completely distraught. What can I do, to help my grandmother fight and deal with this terrible and debilitating disease? I did not want this woman that helped raise me, to suffer and endure this fight alone. Question, after question, after question about this disease, the only answer has been, “depending on the stage of you grandmothers' cancer, you just have to hope and pray that she can endure the treatment! “
Well, treatment takes research and development, and in the U.S., this process is very costly. In order for us to find a cure, it takes raising awareness, and money in order for us to fight against diseases such as cancer, from taking the lives of the ones we love through suffering.
