CIGAR ROLLING EVENT

this was one of thee most successful events. our store was hoopn'! however, it was just victor and i running the show. so it was quite challenging and crazy. we had a few disgruntled patrons, just walk off, but for the most part, everyone was patient with our craziness.

we had the eastvale residents come out in support {btw-"the neighbors are talking"}

would we do this event again? yes.

just the two of us? no.

so, we've already hired help!

we have two new employees.

mary beth and candace. they will make their debut on the blog soon!

so say hi to the girls, as they will be happy to greet you!

thanks for your support

The Wait Is Finally Over!

This weekend is all about Sex, so grab the girls for a
Ladies’ Night Out!
See us for some"Wino-politans" — first — at the Eastvale Gateway.
Second, schedule your facial & eyebrow threading with Pura Salon and Spa.
See Sex and the City! before you schedule your facial because it's going to be a tearful 2 hours!
Seriously, I haven't seen the show ever, but they do a great job of catching you up to speed.
I mean, any girl that has good friends, would understand every moment and emotion that this movie takes you through.
If it was a personal situation, or something you've seen a girlfriend go through, you are going to go for an awesome emotional roller coaster of "GIRL-hood"!
Take some tissue, and be ready.
Then, relax @ Pura Salon and Spa, with your girls, and get your facials on.
We are pleased to be partnering up with Pura for this event, because, this movie truly encompasses what our two locations is for women.
A chance to get "Carried Away" from some of the day to day to just enjoy a day of drinks and relaxation, is something every woman should treat themselves to, at least once!
Granted "Mexi-coma" does sound like allot of fun, but if that isn't in your budget, I think that our co-marketing package does just enough justice for all of us women!
See you soon!

MEMORIAL WEEKEND!

we salute our fallen heroes!
it's not just a day off for us!

Memorial Day (May 30), or Decoration Day, began in 1868 when members of the Grand Army of the Republic heeded the request of their commander, General John A. Logan, to decorate the graves of their fallen compatriots. It has since become the day on which the United States honors the dead of all its wars and is observed as a legal holiday in most states. National services are held at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington, Virginia. In 2000 President Bill Clinton asked the nation to endorse a humanitarian organization's addition of a moment of silence to the holiday, designating 3 P.M. local time for a minute of quiet reflection on the meaning of America's war dead.

great 1st weekend!

well, it is now sunday, and boy did we have a great weekend! we have met some of the finest people that have come through our shop, and have been blessed with all their presence. watching victor in his element, talking wine, his hospitality and making people smile has been the most rewarding.
we have so many people congratulating us on a job well done. can i just tell you...that is so rewarding! it's one thing to open up a business to supplement an income, but this goes beyond that! this is a business of enjoying people, their different lives and paths, and educating them on different wines and how they fit into each persons very own style. lives are fascinating, and we just get to enjoy everyone that walks through those doors.

OPENING WEEKEND

may 16& 17, 2008

it was going to be our first weekend open to the public. and there is this anticipation of..."is everyone saying that they are waiting or us to open...but maybe they are not!" it truly is an emotional roller coaster, when you know that your putting yourself out there.

however, we sure had some of the nicest people come out to show their support and enjoy our wine ambiance.

our fist group of patrons have been so awesome! we truly have the nicest clientele to serve. everyday we feel blessed to have these people, as part of our life right now.

cudos, to those that came out to support.

we're open! and victor's is so tired these days that he can't even fall asleep. he is dreaming about checklist, things to do, stuff to order, items that have not been entered into the system yet. receiving product. filling in the holes of the outcoves in the store...etc...etc...etc.
we've been open since tuesday, may 13, 2008!
corporate alex has been here since may 14, 2008 helping us open the store. victor had his first batch of wine connoseurer's in on wednesday, may 15, 2008.
he poured some wines for our guest, chit chatted about the wines, and "vuallah!" it is now friday and the i feel like the week has just flown by.

lights, camera, action...

today victor is having dtv {direct tv} come out and install our 52" tv for you viewing pleasure. i think it is so cool! this flat screen is pretty big. but in the shop, you would never know it's that big! we don't even have anything like this at home! we are making some sacrifices for our patrons, right? this is where customer service comes into play again! see... customer service is our #1 priority. woooohoooo! good times.
{and as you can see, in my world, something so small as a flat screen tv, seems like a bid deal. maybe we should call that, as my daughter would say, "your ol' skool mom".}
yup, yup, in this day an age, that's exactly how i am feeln' ooolld skool.

i have to admit...
i have found my first gray hair at the top of my head.

nice! and sexy.
ok, so back to the dtv. this thing looks like we're a darn theatre. i don't even think you need hd. sit in one of these chairs, and you feel like you are in the tv!
so we know have lights {aka...power}, our cameras are in {security}, and action....
strike a pose and...

vogue, vogue, vogue!

i thought we were bamboozled!

so, i get this call from an advertising agency, benchcraft company, out of portland, oregon. and they talk to us about advertising in the course guide book for the trilogy golf course in corona, ca. they also have a few other golf courses, but this is one of the closest to our location, and the first to contact us. so, i am all about supporting big believers in support of our business, our personal life decisions, and friendships. so, i said, well since they are the first to approach us with this opportunity, how can we make the biggest impact, so that we see our roi {return on investment} the soonest? that way we know if we're doing well, or gage just how many people respond from this type of advertisement. right? well, we went ahead with this company back in march of 2008. we're now approaching may 2008, and i haven't received a call, proof of the course page, nothing showing any reason for the initial investment of $200, that the rep said we would be getting in a timely manner. so finally, it cinco to drinko, and i am irritated with this buzz killer of a company. so i get on the phone to call the company, mind you, i wrote down every person i have spoken to, and not one person is in charge of our account. and that chaps my left hide...because every person you talk to, you have to explain the situation, over and over and over again, and again...you get the picture.

long story short, i finally get this nice rep, who is willing to stake my claim, and decided that we do not have to pay the remainder of the balance until...the layout and guidebook have been ok, and ready to ship to trilogy golf course at glen ivy. so, these are things to consider when you are looking for companies to advertise with, and get the biggest bang for your buck! hopefully this brings us a great turnout. if not, well, you learn and then try something new. however, ii was always told that it take 6 hits to change a habit or to plant a seed.
we'll be featured for 1 year...
wish us luck!

i am the WYNN-er!

so if you remember, awhile ago, we decided for victor's last hooray...before the store opens, we would take a trip to las vegas.
well, just some of the pictures are in and let me tell you, it's a disposable camera, so the shots aren't that clear, but for the most part....he still had fun. check it out.

this is victor fishing at lake mead, nv.

victor's first catch. old fisherman's tale says you should kiss your first catch. so, he did!

we stayed at the wynn las vegas, nv

it is my favorite !

getting closer to the actual, wynn! see the stratosphere hotel in the background.

it's gettn' closer...look....

the wynn is in sight.

our room was on the other side. facing the blvd.

this is victor's favorite part of the course. he fell in love, not only with his caddy...darin, poor guy was chasing balls all over that course; but also, with the waterfall on this course.

i asked him if he would do it again? he said,

"duh, of course."

i guess that means "jes in engles, and sometimes in espanish"

hopefully in the next 2 years, before they tear down the greens. the wynn will be building some more rooms, so the greens are coming out, and rooms are coming in!

for those of you that golf, we will be featured in the

"trilogy golf course" guide book in corona, ca.

bring that guide book in with you when you visit the shop...we have a surprise waiting for you!

choi bella!

OPEN SEASAME! {open says...me?}

come one, come all...

victor left the doors open for all that interested to come in,

see the shop, take a tour, and walk around.

he's had many interested neighbors and passer-by's walk through the store and love the look of what's happening so far.

i was lucky enough to be here at the store when customers walked in and admired the store.

it's a good feeling, when people greet you with such a warm smile, and share their dreams and aspirations with you because, it gives you a continuous flow of happy emotions.

i haven't worked retail in a long time, and the retail atmosphere is one of immediate gratification. you know whether the customers coming in are having a good day, or a bad day right then and there. the emotions and body language is ever present....that feeling is exhilarating.

it was refreshing, to talk to customers again. i must say!

cheers to customer service everyone!

and let me tell you, victor loves customer service.

you should have seen how excited my husband was talking to his future customers.

like a little kid in a candy store i tell ya'!

wine, retail, and customer service....he's all over it!

"mi casa es su casa"

he has even started an e.mail list of people we haven't reached yet.

marketing...marketing...marketing!

do you know your ABC's & 123's?

today's FINAL inspection went without a hick-up!

but......

and the big fat hairy but is...

the abc {alchol beverage control} license is delayed...another week!

so all we can do is breathe...1...2....3...!

it's trully a crack up!

now we have to call alex at the corporate office to delay his flight

because...NOTHING,

is going to happen next week!

1....2....3....breathe,

my blogging network of people...breathe with me!

this is my sanity, we're talking about, right?
